We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team at SHC Services. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, administering medication, and fostering independence through skill development. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Assist with medication administration while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that promote independence and enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Monitor and document clients’ progress, behaviors, and any changes in health status.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
- Engage clients in social activities and community involvement to encourage socialization.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by following health and safety protocols.
- Lift and assist clients as needed while ensuring their comfort and dignity.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in patient care or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration practices is essential.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is a plus.
- Must be able to complete DODD Initial and Annual DSP Training
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to lift individuals safely as required for support.
- A background in social work or nursing is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others are critical attributes for success in this role.
- Dependable with a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle, able to travel to clients’ homes and assist with transportation needs.
