Position Overview
We are launching a hands-on apprenticeship in our Quality Control department to train the next generation of flooring technicians. Over a 12-24 month program, you will learn the techniques to evaluate and diagnose material and installation quality issues for hardwood, laminate, tile, carpet, and vinyl installations. You’ll work alongside quality control specialists to understand industry standards, develop critical reporting skills, and ensure every project meets our high-quality standards. This role combines on-site experience and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
· Learn industry and manufacturer installation standards for all flooring types
· Assist quality technicians with pre- and post-installation inspections and site assessments
· Fabricate and prepare custom installation materials
· Document findings during evaluation of material and installation quality issues and report discrepancies to the QC lead
· Coordinate corrective actions by communicating with installation crews and suppliers
· Participate in final walkthroughs to confirm finished work aligns with client specifications
Apprenticeship Structure
1. Orientation & Safety Training: company policies, OSHA basics, tool handling
2. Technical on-Site Training: installation of flooring materials, defect identification, measurement techniques
3. On-the-Job Mentoring: shadow senior inspectors during live installations
4. Flooring related custom part fabrication
5. Customer relationship training
6. Progress Reviews & Certification: quarterly feedback sessions, pathway to QC Technician
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
· Basic math skills and ability to read a tape measure
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods
· Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
