Valco Melton is seeking a full-time first-shift Quality Control Inspector to handle the inspection of mechanical parts. This position is primarily for inspecting machined, fabricated or, in some cases, completed assemblies. Typical quantities per batch are 1 - 500 parts. Materials are primarily aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and brass. Sheet metal pieces are usually smaller than 48” square.
The work is of high complexity and requires first article, in-process, and final inspection of machined and fabricated parts as well as maintenance of ISO standards for gauge and tooling inspection. Previous experience with a variety of metrology equipment is essential. Most parts include imperial and metric threads -- both straight and tapered. The candidate will be an expert in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and general ability to read prints.
The position requires communication with engineers and managers of various disciplines and the applicant will need clear knowledge of sampling methods to assess the time needed to inspect batches.
Experience in metrology and/or dimensional inspection is preferred but not required. We are willing to train someone who doesn't have experience if they're motivated to learn.
