Founded in 1963, Stepping Stones is an award-winning nonprofit organization that has proudly serves individuals with disabilities in Greater Cincinnati.

Our Weekend Respite program operates throughout the school-year, inviting teens and adults for enriching retreats on our 47-acre Allyn Campus in Batavia, Ohio.

We are now hiring Weekend Overnight Respite Counselors to lead groups in art, nature and other adaptive recreation activities during the daytime. In the evenings -- everyone unites for dances, talent shows, holiday celebrations and other special program events.

ABOUT OUR WEEKEND RESPITE TEAM

Many members of our Weekend Overnight Respite team are college students pursuing future careers in Psychology, Special Education, Nursing and other related fields. Others stive to serve a special population and seek positions where they see the direct impact of their work while making a positive difference in the lives of the population we're so fortunate to serve.

WHEN WILL YOU BE WORKING?

• Averaging twice a month through the school-year. (Click here for specific dates)
• Staff move in on Fridays at 5 pm and stay and work through Sunday at 3:30 pm
• We understand scheduling conflicts and applying doees not commit you to working every respite

GAIN EXPERIENCE IN:

• Executing adaptive activites for multiple age groups with autism, Down syndome and other disabilities
• Utilizing various communication skills, i.e. ASL, visual and devices
• State and local documentation -- reporting progress on participants' personal goals
• Leading participants and volunteers as part of a collaborative team
• Providing an inclusive space that supports participants needs
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• First Aid & CPR certification at no cost to you.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be age 18 or above with a high school diploma or GED
• Ability to successfully complete all background check requirements
• Ability to complete all online and in-person trainings
• Ability to lift up to 50 LBs
